SDI
Dedicated cable, near-zero latency, extremely reliable. King inside the facility and the OB van.
NDI
Video over IP within a LAN. Flexible, many signals per cable, cheap infrastructure. Needs a good, isolated network.
SRT
Transport over unreliable networks, typically the internet. Resilient to packet loss, with tunable latency.
Quick rule
- Inside the facility -> SDI.
- Many signals over a LAN -> NDI.
- Over the internet -> SRT.
